Keen's Lighter Constructed Boot, December 17, 2011 By ZenReader "ZenReader" (washington,dc) - See all my reviews This review is from: Keen Men's Pyrenees Waterproof Hiking Boot (Apparel) I own many different styles of Keen shoes and boots. These boots are considerably lighter in construction than the Pittsburgh, Oregon, series which are designed for serious hiking. This shoe does have a much wider toe box than the other boots, the sole is of a lighter rubber/plastic construction with some limited forefoot flex. Compared to the Targhee II the sole is considerably lighter in construction but does share some of the arch support that the Targhee has in abundance. Interesting the Pittsbugh, Oregon series do not share the long arch support but are equally comfortable for plantar fasciticus since there is virtually no mid foot flex. I would recommend these for light use day hiking but don't expect them to carry a heavy load for any distance (ie; backpacking).

Top-flight boot!!, December 17, 2011 This review is from: Keen Men's Pyrenees Waterproof Hiking Boot (Apparel) Have had these boots for a year now and find myself wearing these even over my Asolos....they're that good!! I hike, walk and snowshoe in them and have done some serious two to three foot snowplowing in them.....they remained dry; I did nikiwax them in addition. In fact, I'm sitting here typing this with them on that's how comfortable they are.....I'm ordering another pair to have when these wear out....whenever that is!!

Comfortable but soles not durable, December 16, 2011 This review is from: Keen Men's Pyrenees Waterproof Hiking Boot (Apparel) These boots are very comfortable. I have arch problems and have a very hard time with most shoes or boots not causing me pain. I walk 5-6 miles a day, mostly in the city and I have had no problem with foot pain. The down side, for me is the durability of the sole. In three months time, I have worn through the harder rubber part of the heal, down to a spongy inner-part of the sole. I will have to shoe-goo the heals or they will be worn out very soon. I expect more in $140 boots from Keen.
